We appreciate you are excited and have a good reason to get your project started ASAP. Everyone does. For many reasons, including the same as yours. Incomplete permit applications will cost you time and money. Having a successful project and construction schedule takes planning. It starts long before your permit application.
“Rain is coming”, “snow is coming”, “frost is coming”, “I have a contractor lined up”, “we are hosting a family function soon”…
Everyone has a reason for needing their permit soon. Many applicants take the time to design their projects, find out what all is required, and get appropriate plans and information together before submitting their permit application. These applications go smoothly without delay.
We also deal with incomplete permit applications every day. It takes a considerable amount of time to review an application, determine what is missing, prepare a list, and correspond with the applicant. And at the end, the application is put aside and not returned to our permit application queue until updated information is submitted. At that point, it goes back in the queue in the order the new information was received. This has now cost you time. Due to the amount of time it requires us to review the information and correspond with applicants, it will also cost you a fee.
